The obsession with "black" VTubers has been the most mind-numbing argument among all the shit that gets discussed periodically, this is the same kind of people who would throw a fit if they found out the person behind their favorite dark-skinned VTuber wasn't black at all. If you care so much about a random streamer's race then just stick to flesh streamer, there's literally no reason at all to restrict your own VTuber avatar to something that represents your real race when the core of VTubing itself is to be whatever you wanted to look like (unless you're obviously trying to look offensive) and do what you like to do.
The dude who complains about all this need to get over it and stop being such a femboy already

Well merchandising is already there but tv/film/games is a ways off. The closest thing to a tv series for any vtuber agency is hologra and those are just short videos. Hololive does have that game they're working on though. Saying "Marvel-scale" just seems like buzzwords to attract investors.

I don’t really think merchandising is all that good honestly. I have no issue with the products en masse but the distribution and logistics side could use a lot of work and that’s a charitable description of it. The website is abysmal, shipping cost is atrocious, and order times are long. Right now only hardcore fans buy merch. I’d wager a good deal of casual fans balk somewhere in the process due to the aforementioned factors.
If the want to improve they need a warehouse in North America and Europe. They also need to figure out how to better predict demand so not everything has to wait eight months for production. At minimum they need to make the website experience better but I have little faith even that happens.

Crossposting an update on Riifu from a few days ago.
My late thoughts:
- I don't like audio porn. But if EIEN management had a problem with that they would have said so much earlier. IIRC in one of her early streams Riifu specifically said she had permission. So that's not the root of her conflict with management. One can hold the opinion that coomtubing shows a lack of wisdom and that same lack affected how she viewed her business relationship with her corpo. I don't want to debate that. My point is EIEN wasn't cracking down on her coomtubing per se.
- My rrat: Riifu was grinding streams and corpo projects and falling apart, and upon consulting with management they cut her streams instead of the projects, leading to the realisation that yes, that's in the contract, leading to seethe. One flaw in my rrat is that I don't expect a corpo of EIEN's size and age to have particularly intensive non-streaming projects. a small update regarding former vtuber Riifu (through her roommate)
"very 1984" may refer as not allowing any mention, as subtle as it might be, about her time as Riifu and possibly not allowing her former fans to be on that server (except through an alt, as many of her donators have also followed her in her other accounts).
another person who had known her since long has also described how there was a previous attempt by her of becoming a regular streamer, but similar to her Riifu time, she burned herself quickly, stopped cold turkey from activities, and when she picked up that channel again, it was mostly meme videos

i dont know what channel that was, as her other aliases are still currently active and regularly keep uploading content. she stated before her vtuber debut that she had content for months (possibly the whole year) prepared to upload.
as it is clear she very likely wont return as vtuber, i dont know if giving future updates would be necessary for the purpose of this thread. and likely going to be long periods of no updates between each one
My late thoughts:
- I don't like audio porn. But if EIEN management had a problem with that they would have said so much earlier. IIRC in one of her early streams Riifu specifically said she had permission. So that's not the root of her conflict with management. One can hold the opinion that coomtubing shows a lack of wisdom and that same lack affected how she viewed her business relationship with her corpo. I don't want to debate that. My point is EIEN wasn't cracking down on her coomtubing per se.
- My rrat: Riifu was grinding streams and corpo projects and falling apart, and upon consulting with management they cut her streams instead of the projects, leading to the realisation that yes, that's in the contract, leading to seethe. One flaw in my rrat is that I don't expect a corpo of EIEN's size and age to have particularly intensive non-streaming projects. Quite impressive how a suprising amount of those names are either inactive or still in the 2view range in spite of a year of work plus a collab, obviously much more in the first than the 2nd, if i remember right one of his videos had Shiki Miyoshino from Prism, probably the biggest vtuber featured before Pippa mogged her, although Pippa was still squarely in the 100-200 view range when she first did the zomboid collab with Rimmy's circle
EIEN is in USA, while I would guess that Riifu is in UK. International lawsuit, good luck enforcing shit.
But in general, non-compete are very hard to enforce and their scope must be narrow or it gets thrown out.
I don't know details of NDAs enforceability, but it would have to drafted well and have proper scope. I think it is pretty good, but again, you would need to sue.
The best part is when you get into the password screen and type it in, then realize your Switch dropped some inputs when it tells you you got the password wrong.
I was even using my fingers on the screen to touch-pad type it and it would still mess up, and now my screen is all scratched up from the stale dorito crumbs.
At least it seems like she had fun and she might do more like this in the future. She mentioned wanting to do a members lobby (post room codes in members only, but stream normally, because Smash is not allowed to stream as members only).

I always found the "pvp the streamer in fighting games" always sort of boring unless the streamer is actually really good at the game. A Smash collab has a lot of potential to be interesting though as they could do stuff like 1 rando v 2 streamers to keep it interesting.
