Do they really even need to do that?, im not necesarily disagreeing it could be a smokescreen, but from my casual overview of things, nobody seemed to care that much or take any sort of other explanations for their mass talent graduation, their core simp audience sorta ate it up while the community as a whole moved on because they dont care about drama that isnt of the big two

You are right that Pippa should try it again and see how it goes for her. Kick seems promising but still very early stages, no PayPal support is likely going to be a deal breaker though. If you want to subscribe you have to give them your card information, this seems to be due to the gambling stuff on that platform unfortunately. Would be a nice idea to have a vtuber corpo focus on Kick but its limitations would not go down so well.

Odd that not supporting PayPal is seen as a negative nowadays. For most of its existence its behavior has been so odious that there were people, myself included, who wouldn't use a service at all if PayPal was the only payment option.

I mean it’s worth a shot to get the Kick money while it’s there because it truly feels like Kick is doomed in the long run. They serve video via AWS so Twitch/Amazon wins regardless of how Kick performs. Sure they could scale up and get off of AWS but being started by a literal crypto gambling website doesn’t inspire confidence that they are doing anything more than looking for a quick buck.

Yeah, if you want to undercut a competitor which is charging a 50% fee, you could charge 40%, or even go as low as 30%. To only charge 5% seems like a bit of a blunder unless they plan to eventually raise the rate once a lot of people are on board (which will almost certainly invite severe backlash) or, and this is my opinion on what's really going on here, you are using the platform to promote your casino (current streamer at the top of the gambling category has over 17k CCV) and making money through the streaming platform itself isn't the goal here, in which case it may indeed have some staying power. But either way, as you said, might as well make bag while there's bag to make.

Someone should start a company that does opsec for vtubers.

They often can't delete everything because they have lost track of their passwords and emails for old, unused accounts. Even then there's often archives. They should be able to just private their personal accounts and use them normally, but if you've got dumshit friends posting replies to your vtuber stuff and also still tagging you in their posts.... well they should stop doing that!

It does make me wonder if there's more to it, like if she had directly confided information to the "super duper fans" or started some personal communications and they're trying to get around that. Otherwise it's making a mountain out of a mole hill, but i guess that's your point, it makes people not talk about the companies other fuck ups.

Normies don't feel this way. Convincing someone to type in their card details is a surprisingly big barrier you have you push through when you do business online, and PayPal integration removes that given it's been around since the early days and most people already have an account with their details on file.

This is especially important for streaming where donations/gift subscriptions etc. are typically impulse purchases. People are more likely to throw some cash at the screen on a whim if it just takes a couple of clicks to do so, but if they realise they need to dig out their card or make a new account with a service they're less familiar with, they're likely to fall into the dreaded "eh, maybe later" zone.
