I've always thought it was because we were most or less growing way to big for being all fit into 1 thread and Null being vehemently against anime more or less discouraged some people I knew from the thread from asking "we should get a board" (which by his own logic here like, no duh. We were one of the most active threads on the site next to the US Politics General). The DropKiwiFarms stuff was, to my interpretation, a nudge to see if we have what it takes to be our own forum.
