I'm going to make a final few comments to wrap this up on my end, because there's no particular reason to discuss it further when it wouldn't be productive.
Just a short while ago, I was given a new development in all of this. A large part of the criticism directed at me and the staff tonight has been over our supposed inaction and refusal to ban Purrson. Repeated claims have been made that we ignored his red flags, and I have furthermore been encouraged to ban someone else over their desire to use telegram. There is blame to be taken here, and I am going to take on board the criticisms of people I sincerely believe are acting in good faith and out of a genuine desire to improve TVA. However, the presence of bad faith actors had made things much muddier and more charged than they needed to be.
Now, I understand that an accusation of bad faith against a critic is a loaded one that deserves evidence. So, here is my case:
First of all, the same person that I was told should have been banned almost immediately was accepted enough in Xenlar's community to be on stream with him. Not just once, but multiple times. During one of these times, according to reports given by Xenlar himself, Purrson actively defended Kiki Pyon-Pyon. This was apparently something that got him banned from their community, either just afterwards or at a later date. Evidence for this is provided below:
(Not the actual vid, simply one that has the thumbnail which proves my point about multiple appearances.)
- Starts at around 31:15.
I would
sincerely hope that I don't have to explain what my stance on defending this person is, or the topic involved. This would by itself have either guaranteed that I banned him on the spot, or at
absolute worst been held as a 'if he even breathes the wrong way from now on, he is gone forever' sword of Damocles over his head, and only
then because of my previously-established dislike of arbitrary action on such grounds.
Since there is a very great crossover between these communities, and as established,
members there sincerely believe that users should be banned for things they do off-site, in other communities, you'd expect this to be conveyed to me immediately. But no, this was not. This revelation only came about
right now because this incident jogged an unrelated third party's memory of the incident, and they were operating under the assumption I already knew.
This incident happened
six months ago.
Hopefully it's transparently obvious why I'm just a tiny bit upset about this. Before this revelation, I was hoping there would be something to be gained by acting in good faith towards people who had it out for me. I no longer think that. I am tired of being attacked and criticized for inaction by people who simultaneously work to cover up and protect the very targets they want
me to discipline, apparently purely for the purpose of letting them stay around longer so they have more to accuse me of.
To those uninvolved in any of this; I'm sorry you had to deal with the fallout from it. Again; I am taking on board the criticism I have gotten from numerous sources that I think are acting in good faith and out of a sincere desire to improve this forum.
(Quick edit: Obviously I banned Purrson from the forum immediately after this.)
tl:dr; if you expect me to take your criticism seriously when you're covering up something like this:
lol, lmao even.
