TBH, I really didn't think fighting games would take off due to how hard they are to master, grinding in rank and in the lab. The key I feel is how pros embraced newcomers vs. how toxic the FPS community is. For sure this guy - https://liquipedia.net/fighters/Nanai - brought lots of joy as a coach. It's not that FPS coaches are mean but how these fight coaches leaned way way in to encourage participation. It helped that Nanai, Daigo, and others really embraced vtubers. Feels a bit nostalgic, kinda want to go to an arcade.

This exhibition event is pure fun. Botan's belly laughs with Pururu's chicken laughter and Aki's heartfelt giggles is too much. Fuck if I know what's going on but holy shit these streamers must have abs cause mine hurt laughing too much.
It's also insane, and with much jealousy on my part, that people are watching this in bars

Final notes. Maybe someone can explain the aversion to showing the results of events visually. It's so simple to to have a trophy or the prize image next to who is getting it and yet no matter who is hosting I don't see it. It's the lowest common denominator to engaging an audience and it drives me crazy. With that, I think Aki's team ultimately lost. Fun stream. Bit annoying that Cover isn't sponsoring stuff under their apparently defunct brand "HLZNTL", straight up gave up and Botan is picking up the slack. Tomorrow is the main event. Tune in.

They were, actually. It's only relatively recently (past two years or so) that streaming revenue dropped below the 1/3 total Cover gross mark. In the early years, it was a thorough 1/2.
Okay, that's SCs, members & adsense. I'm not sure what the split is between those, but for simplicity's sake, let's say 1/3 each.
I sincerely doubt that you'll find many companies that go "Oh, it's just 10- 15% of our revenue stream, who cares, nothing major!"
As an aside, adsense being included is also a hint as to how devastating the Capcom initiated Holocaust really was.
