It's been known there was something really broken with her hormones, though this is the first time I can recall mentioning details. Though the lack of emotional responses explains quite a lot of things, frankly. It's the same escalation as the drug cycle causes. Off the top of my head, I'm guessing there's probably a pretty substantial misdiagnosis and they've sent her around the ringer for years. But, sadly, that isn't surprising. Most of the hormone-producing organs are prone to growths. Vast majority are non-active, but the active ones cause issues like that with spikes & crashes. At least in some cases. If it was sub-critical levels and matched with heavy cell surface sensitivity, it'd fit the mold for the issues as she's described them in the bits I've caught.
