You can find a new doctor, but it's really important to hold onto a good mechanic. It's probably the regular service industry that's hardest to find good, consistent providers in.
Even with CA's taxes/fees, 4 tires and an alignment should top out at $1300 for some incredibly good tires.
Edit: went and checked. Unless she has some super expensive SUV EV, you're looking at ~1100 USD before tax for the absolute top of the line EV tires delivered in CA. There's some fees, so it's probably 1200 for the set. They got a cool $600 for nothing from her, and I'm dead certain she didn't get as good of tires as I could find in 2 minutes.

I was chatting with someone that works in towing for car accidents and he was saying how fucked the whole tire costs are for EVs, especially Teslas. Apparently a lot of Californians bought Teslas because of the tax benefits and how expensive gas is in California but now they're getting rolled by tire costs.

~$250 USD per tire. That's not actually expensive for a set of good performance tires for a normal car. Considering the weight of the car, that isn't surprising.
Top of the line Hankook or Pirelli tires for an EV Sedan isn't too bad. Now, if she has 20's on a big EV SUV, then it's probably 300 per.
TireRack for 2023 Tesla Model Y Performance. So, for a really high-performance EV SUV and delivered to Irvine, CA, you're looking at ~1500USD for a set of 4 top of the market tires. That's why I mentioned the disclaiming about an EV SUV, as those can chew through tires because they're basically trucks that people drive like cars. But if you're buying an $80k USD car, you should understand there are costs associated with it.
Any EV with 18-19 inch rims will be a good chunk cheaper.
