Okay, what kind of really dumb question is that, assuming it didn't get 8 bullets deservedly through it's skull (Papakin coming through clutch in this area it sounds) it was a bred to fight pit bull so odds are it would have spent the rest of it's time continuing to tear other dogs apart until one tore it apart.

Neighbours putting down a dangerous dog is how it used to be done. Once a neighbour's two dogs broke into my grandparents yard and mauled their Scottish terrier so my dad & uncle went next door and shot them. No police, no council, no authorities. No one takes chances with dogs that have gone bad.
