Way too many recipes make everything too complicated, and I started enjoying cooking when I learned to just put ingredients in a pot/pan and turn on the stove/oven. The only thing you need to know is if your meat is cooked, everything else literally doesn't matter and I'll stand by that. I don't blame anyone with mental issues for having trouble learning to cook.
My favorite beef stew ever is not the long list of ingredients and directions recipes give. It's carrots, potatoes, onions, and beef, dropped in a pot with water and simmered for 4 hours. Pour in a cup of water every hour. Add corn starch for thickness. More veggies if you're feeling it, add potato flakes for better consistency.
Recipes are bullshit.
