Aside from there being laws against doing stuff like that outside of polling places (which get frequently violated without consequence anyway) I don't see it happening much as nowadays they just steal the mail ballots of the lazy people and forge them instead of begging them to actually show up to vote. They do it a lot with outdated voter rolls as people move but their old voter registration doesn't get deleted, people have done FOIAs and found that they had somehow been still voting back in their previous state years after they had moved away, this happens a lot with college kids who registered while at college and then moved away after graduation Also when women get married and change their last name often they make a new entry instead of updating the old one and it's been found that illegal votes were made using their maiden name.

I think the grand problem with food handouts is the geopolitical problems leading up to this situation in Australia to begin with. Britain sending everyone every which way to has had a dire effect on the ecosystems of the planet. One may want free sausages or free BBQ but at what cost? Is this not akin to bribery, a justification of the costs of the voting system? Are Australian polsters and political employees that desperate for a turnout? And what cost for the environment, I'm guessing that these aren't Kangaroo sausages. More likely European import meats again to promote European culture and cuisine over the traditional nature of Australia. While you do have to show up and get your name marked off the voting register, you don't have to actually vote.
