I didn't interpret the lyrics too deeply but it obviously was about her time in Hololive somehow. Will need to relisten to it.
As someone already said. These seems more like about fighting with a part of herself and not exactly her time in Hololive.

Only the Holomems that have signed with a label have an active producer working with them, I believe. So they're acting as they're own. It's a lot of wrangling that has to happen to put an album out. And the streamer is normally the primary one that needs to be wrangled. This actually isn't surprising. The streaming talents are functionally independent contractors under Cover Corp, in many ways.

So now that we have an official collab with Casey Edwards do you think he might work with more talents in the future? We have several talents in just EN who are big fans of DMC

I feel more bad for Mumei because she had to make such an emotional and heavy decision and then what was supposed to be a time for her to say goodbye gets overshadowed by Gura graduating. I know it's a running meme that Gura would stream to siphon viewers away from the others but holy shit that's just wild to do it in graduation too.
I've seen this sentiment repeated a few times and it confuses the hell out of me. This whole idea of "Gura's graduation overshadows the others."

Mumei's fans who care most about Mumei are still thinking about Mumei's graduation. Same thing with Gura's fans and same thing with Shion's fans. It was also the same when Fauna's and Chloe's graduations were announced one day apart. These graduations are meant to say goodbye to the fans that watch and care about them. One graduation isn't gonna "overshadow" the others cause they're all dedicated to their individual fanbases.

I guess the outsiders and the dramafags will pay more attention to Gura's cause biggest number, but why does that matter? Why should Mumei or her fans care if retards like Evanito talk more about Gura's graduation than hers? I don't get it.

If the songs have those it's because the talent wanted it.

And 5 million vtuber fans yawned in indifference.
The stream has over 315 thousand views only an hour (plus 5 minutes) after it started. So even if 5 million have lost interest in her we can't pretend that she isn't still getting more eyes on her than all but a handful of vtubers.

SINCE MUMEI IS GRADUATING I'M GOING TO SAY IT! :pippasquish:
Anus tart new start is just anime together forever! :pippasquish:

It's the same arrangement and the chorus follows the same rhythm, anyone could do a remix of the two songs and see for themselves :pippasquish:

I hate to admit it, but you're right. It's a faster BPM base and Mumei's has a lot more pan flutes, but it's structurally the same song. Wow, that's a catch.

Non serious analysis of Ash Again: Gura destroying all the boats reflects her hatred of shipping and her inner desire to tell them all to die. The lyrics saying "I'd do it again" refers to all the blood sacrifices she used to prolong her Hololive contract until now.

Side point, but this probably matters a lot now. Gura's original music content tends to have themes of fighting against herself. That probably shouldn't be ignored, at this point.
Yep, same feelings. As I watched and listened to this song, I thought, “The girl is literally screaming about her imposter syndrome”.
Poor little goofball:ameraintear:

Might sound weird, but I want to thank the thread for all the postings since page 136. I read quite a few informative and a lot of emotional posts these pages that helped me get the unexpected pain and thoughts over the expected graduation a bit in order.

I only watched Goobs during her first year (albeit with fervour) and with time just accepted that she's "gone." Her seldom streams with clearly false promises about "streaming more" only acted as reminders of things lost.
Like a lot of people said, she was a pillar, an idol, and an image for the world of VTubing. All of these were, unfortunately, dissociated with the real Gura herself. The idea of Gura vs the actual Gura, so to speak.

I didn't think I'd feel much of anything when she'd graduate, since I hardly watch Hololive now, but I was wrong. Losing something you thought of losing only theoretically acts like a painful reality check. But oh well.

Anyway, I also want to add one take, a dozen or so pages ago somebody said that Senzawa was a YouTube creator that just made anime shitposts. This is very true, but she actually was a streamer too. I guess it's not very well-known, since you'd only find her streams (or rather parts of them) outside of her channel.
She used to sporadically (?) stream on Twich, I can remember at least five different streams. Her last one is the one where the "Mooses" meme comes from (and also the only one where she used a proper model, I think).

Personally, I don't expect her [Senzawa's] return. Maybe she'll keep using this persona, but even then, it's been so many years, and Gura seems like a different person now. At least that cringey late 2010s anime edginess should be out of her system now sadly.
Also, I really, really can't buy the idea that her nonexistent streaming over the years is solely due to external issues. Like, come on.
So I just can't see her debuting again and going at it like Nimi is doing. As much as I hate to think so.

We'll see, I guess.
Thanks for the posts;
And thanks Gura for all the fish.
Cheers.

Aww, that's sweet.

P.S. But if we end up getting the coveted collab with Pippa, I would retract all sadges and call it all an absolute win lmao. :sakanapleasepippa::smugpipi:

I did the math, and if I worked for half a minute per day, not counting weekends and holidays, I would perniciously be able to produce the audio for two (2) 3-minute long songs just within two years. Granted, they would be dogshit but now we have a benchmark.

Uh, I mean.... I uh, it's my impostor syndrome! Yeah huh, it's hard to live with such an illness.

In all seriousness, probably a little of column a and b for symbolism in the song on imposter syndrome vs past demons. Senzawa tried to play it off as a meme but supposedly there's more truth to the drunken anime girl thing she had going on. The song could be a musing about how her self destructive tendencies continue to haunt her but the myth ladies helped her a lot in processing her traumas and doubts.

From the way Calli has spoken about her style of song writing, it's usually not a single cohesive story or message based on linear events but a mish-mash of key events and feelings pieced together into coherent lyrics. It's likely Casey did the same from Gura's "discord trauma dumping".

Yeah i know but i still wish they only used MVs for special moments

For example Ayame decided that Kawayo wouldnt have an MV but it became one of her most popular songs

Her first song Reflect was originally released without an MV (and yes it did really well, being her first song and all). But she decided to upload an MV version of it like 9 months later. Essentially that means there are actually 2 Reflects in her channel currently. Who knew what happened behind the scenes for that, but it might have influence her later decisions.

huh this whole Gura thing makes me really hope Cover HR knows better what to look for in western hires for EN. Gura is supremely talented but if she is never active streaming and making content.. I'd prefer a lesser talent who actually hits the stream button. Imagine how much stronger EN would be if their star talent is active. I've heard a saying in sports, the best ability is availability.

Luckily the newer EN girls seem way more grounded and are grinders. I hear people here talking about not being able to move past EN1 and 2.. gonna have to explain that to me. How can you be a fan of someone who doesn't stream? I don't understand at all. I stopped watching the NBA for many reasons, one of the main ones being the stars are always doing "load management" and not playing or trying much until the playoffs. It's annoying as fuck.
