On the vesper question he has been mentioning that there's a lot of stuff cooking behind the scenes and he shares his ideas with bits that he sometimes floats with the other boys but are too crazy to do. He did also said that one of the reasons he doesn't push for much is because sometimes it would make his manager work overtime and as wagecuck he understands how fucked is being asked for endless overtime so he just keeps things simple. It doesn't seem like he's been sent to the basement to quit, he may get weird looks for being vtuber excon but nothing weird it seems.

She must have pushed hard for that, contests and give-aways are notoriously difficult to do in any official capacity. One man operations can get away with doing whatever but companies have to be very careful to follow all the laws of relevant countries. I'm a bit surprised this contest isn't locked to a particular region?

I've never looked into this area of law, but I don't see why a contest should be difficult from a legal standpoint. Giveaways are a different story because, due to their random nature, they either fall under or are closely related to lotteries and gambling.

In Japan, contests usually can't give away monetary prizes, so them being a Japanese company probably complicates things.

Ownership rights can be difficult so they'd need someone to write up the necessarily legalese to ensure the company fully own the copyright to the submitted designs, making sure to close any possible loopholes an opportunist might use to enter then file troll lawsuits and/or demand royalties later.

In this case there are also cash prizes (archive) which in certain countries could complicate matters even more.

I think I understand where the JP corpos are coming from when it comes to not offering cash prizes for community contributions.

While I don't feel like I can articulate it quite well, I can give an example of what I think they're trying to avoid. Take a look at Vhoeshow's hiring process. Everyone knows it's fake as fuck and they need excuses to bring in their already existing orbiters.
