IIRC Hololive gave a choice for said talents after reaching milestone or birthday on whether they want a live or a MV, since outfit and 3D model is always a certainty. I vaguely remember either one of them (I think Marine) talking about this, that's why Hololive is trying to expand their VR studio to accommodate their talents not only from JP but also overseas.

I'm the type that follows most of my favorite illustrators so if one of them happens to work on a chuuba merch I like I don't mind buying standee-type merch just to have it displayed on shelf. I do agree that having that as constant merch can be fucking boring though so I appreciate holo's willingness to make personalized merch for birthday/anniversary occasions
things like this and can-badges are deeply ingrained in otaku culture too so you're also right there, many JP otakus are willing to invest a lot on the same merch just to have fully decorated itabag or thematic photos during their oshi's birthday
This was on display at Holo Expo, btw. Axel, Flayon, and Hakka saw it during their tour.
I like acrylic standees.
From a product manager perspective it's a no brainer. Easy to make in-house or contract out, can manufacture anywhere, proven demand, packs flat, won't break in shipping.
Anything that doesn't fit in an envelope is not going to work when shipping overseas. Bespoke merch is inherently a one-time purchase and very few talent in Nijisanji are going to be capable of moving more than 10k units of anything overseas.
You shouldn't expect merch more than t-shirts and acrylic goods get worldwide shipping. Anything else is an exceptional amount of effort. Even for a "big" company like Anykara it's not realistic without a partnership.
