Recently there has been an uptick in the amount of degeneracy in the main thread. Therefore, I am creating this thread as a containment zone for it. This does not mean you can unleash your degeneracy here, it just means that I'm moving the more extreme and explicit kinds of material that have been popping up in the main thread here. All regular rules still apply to this thread.
What exactly do I define as 'degeneracy', though?
I define degeneracy as anything that crosses the line between euphemism and into outright depraved behaviour.
For example; posting 'I think Kirsche's fish blowjob audio might be just be what finally convinces Sakana to hire her on, if you know what I mean' is a euphemism.
Posting 'Honestly Kirsche's fish blowjob audio legit got me hard irl. Sakana's tiny Californian balls must be churning with cum ready for that whore mouth' is degeneracy.
Both of the above examples are saying the same thing overall, but one obviously moves the conversation along a much more explicit path, and stands out as something most people who just want to talk about cute dancing ducks would take issue with. I still encourage a stance of 'block and move on', but the thing is, I can't block anything as an administrator. I have to read this shit even if it's fucking deleted. So I'm taking action to protect my own eyes.
Now sometimes, degeneracy only appears in documentation. Aka, somebody outside this website acted like a degenerate and somebody here screenshotted them in order to archive their activity and laugh at them. That's always fine (so long as it breaks none of the rules), and is what this thread is primarily a containment for.
However, what this thread is not for is expressing your own degeneracy. As I stated in the rules, I do not want to know about which idol you want to fuck. I thought this was entirely self-evident, but some people here are retarded. Some people will take a post saying 'I really like MeeMaw and would like to be kissed by her IRL' (cringe but not exactly reason to call the police) as an excuse to then post something far more explicit and unsettling. From now on, if I see such a post in the main thread, I'm moving it here and marking it as a degenerate containment action.
As Lucy Pyre points out, all vtuber interactions are inherently parasocial. There's nothing wrong with being parasocial to a degree. The line is crossed when you start openly broadcasting your parasocial desires on a public platform to people who don't give a fuck and are weirded out by it.
But what about Discord? Well, Discord is to vtubers what Tumblr was for SJW's and the Homestuck fandom. Discord is a zero-brains-required-for-entry user-moderated Skype/Teamspeak/whatever else alternative where degenerates gather like flies to Elin honey. While it has a very few decent spaces with practical uses, Discord by and large is a hive of lunatics and is well known for being operated mostly by furries.
In such an environment, the absolute most disgusting kinds of vtuber fan can easily thrive. This leads to all manner of revolting behaviours being normalized and tolerated, resulting in overspill that has led many talents to become disillusioned with the very people who are supposed to be supporting them.
In addition to what I've enumerated upon above, this thread is a containment zone for this kind of fandom activity. It differs from /vt/ and other similar platforms due to the relative lack of anonymity and the much more hugbox-like nature of Discord as a whole. On /vt/, degenerates are often called out and insulted for their revolting behaviours. On Discord, user-based moderation allows the worst of the worst to congregate and build their own safe spaces where nobody can tell them what to do with their jar and figurine collections.
Please understand that I'm not making this its own thread to try and segregate or censor people. I'm making it because some of the things that have been brought up in relation to Discord recently has been genuinely nauseating, and I don't want to have people forcefully exposed to it against their will. Basically, if the contents of a post would put somebody off their food, it goes here.
