I was under the impression that times square advertising was expensive as shit. Good on their fans but a little uninspired at this point.

It'd be hard to implement on a large scale but I thought what Phase did with AR Pippa was really cool, would be interesting to see some popup ads with a similar vibe where a vtuber was talking to the public like they're at a stand on screen but they're just on a small scale ad in a random place.

I think the vtuber in a random mall interacting with people has been done before I vaguely remember someone posting a video maybe back in the homeland. AR advertising could be the next step in marketing but the main issue I see is the return. Vtubers are a niche market and putting any sort of ad in places outside of the circles that watch vtubers is a waste of money IMO. Sponsoring cons and having booths are a good way to get eyes on you and ( call me phasefag but I say this objectively) having the talents hang out at the booth is another great way to boost engagement too. They could even try to land deals with indie devs/publishers to shill their games even if they're just paid in exposure. All these small corpos need to up their advertising game a bit more if they want to thrive.

So Coni mentioned that it was cheap to do I wonder if its just a rotating sort of billboard that runs on a set time and they somehow managed to squeeze a very small ad because they found space. Yeah this specific ad space is rather cheap but the caveat is that it runs for like 30-40 seconds. For reference, I was seeing pajeet "happy birthday" shit on it amidst the Pikmin 4 shitposting advertisements for the game. Not trying to downplay Scrunkly getting a nice ad contributed to it though.
