One of the more interesting development in the YT sphere.
YT finally adopted top donator ranking/channel points from twitch and the vtubers/viewers fucking hated it
There was a similar push back when YT introduced membership gifting back in 2023 too. The vtubers actually hate it so much some of them calling it "paying money to get cucked", but eventually warmed up to the idea? Idk but they properly thank people for doing it nowadays.
On the opposite side of the spectrum. There's a function that's regularly used by vtubers that twitch viewers absolutely loathe.
Which is sub-only streams. When this was introduced on twitch there was so much negative sentiment and backlash that the twitch streamers themselves opted not to use it.
Meanwhile vtubers uses this as a way to get closer with their viewers, often hosting co-op, watchalong, sharing secrets/sides that they don't show on normal stream and spend a dedicated day every week to do it (usually saturday or sunday)
It takes years for sub-only to make a comeback on twitch as .... a way to gatekeep VODs. For some reason a bunch of twitch streamers made all of their VODs sub-only. "If you aren't watching live or being subbed, you are basically trash that I dont care about" and it became the meta. Not everyone was doing it, but a good chunk did.
