At least when I was in school, a lot of history classes never made it to 20th century stuff for the US, let alone the rest of the world. And this was in a very good school district, well before wokeness was a thing. Plenty of people who are interested in more comprehensive history can and do learn it outside of school or maybe by having a good AP teacher, but as for what gets thrust in front of the masses by force of law, there's never been much there.
