nah plex works fine with no relays but plex is always online even with mere lan connections. Jellyfin needs tailscale to remote in. its a pain in the ass to set up tailscale on the server + devices. the biggest problem for me is the 100% hdd use when doing a library scan.

you dont need a 4xxx card. 1080tis are still great and like $400-500. i got a 4xxx card for the h265 encoder (plex) which is better than the 2xxx and 1xxx cards.
if youre 1080ping than 1xxxx cards are fine, even 3070-4070 card will play 4k games.
embys a broken mess, jellyfin requires stupid levels of work to get remote access and it causes 100% hdd speeds during a media scan. all at once.

saving them to build a plex server. thats what i did and until a few days ago i was scratching my head over rebuilding it. its a rats nest of external and internal hhds. in the end i have to build a new pc. or hope for symmetric interet
